Sitting in my NY apt now, the meal at La Cabrera felt so long ago. Yesterday was an action-packed session, we woke up all pumped up (or rather Karen) for a big day, sun blasting on us through the window. Stumbled to Bar Taller for a cheapo breakfast that cost 18 pesos, and it was off to Los Cabos/Caminitos for some tourist action. Saw the colorful zinc houses that made Caminitos famous. Met SUPER HORNETO, a weird feeble old man dressed up as a hornet. He was in love with my Brasilian tanktop.
Stumbled into a small gallery tucked in one of the old houses. Picked up 2 paintings from a local artist, Roberto Jofre, one for myself, one as a gift. I can't wait to frame it up.. mine was a very beautiful, rich yet tranquil scene of the old Los Cabos, when it was a bustling port 30 years ago. I know, it sounds weird right? rich yet tranquil? Well, the colors were really vivid, but not overbearing, with lucid gray/blue as the background sky which imparted a calming mood. It was a very nice feeling, art shopping. I felt as if I was taking home a piece of Buenos Aires' soul. Sure we all have our knick-knack souvenirs- shoes, bags, magnets, pictures etc to boast of our trips...but this felt different.
Anyway, next up, we polished off a thyme-roasted tenderloin at my favorite BA joint, La Cabrera before I rushed about to pick up my MC dress ($80!!!! for a beautiful cream chiffon dress from Ciara), packed up my life together and scooted off to the airport.
Buenos Aires was a short but sweet affair, hmm.. sounds familiar. Anyway, would highly recommend you peeps visiting, at least once in a life time. Especially in times of financial stress, when they need the tourist dollars most.
Will be hoping on the plane back to Singapore in 16 hours time, can't wait to see family! Next up.. Hatteras in Thanksgiving... KITESURFING!!
